Burden to BusinessesWhen areas incorporate into cities, they bank on businesses to provide the tax base to fund operations and services. If the boundary of the city does not contain enough business to support the city, the city must then raise taxes on its citizens. If citizens do not vote for the tax increases, the city risks being a city on paper only and, in that case, is unable to provide services or very few services. The taxes that continue to be paid to the County do not get applied back for the city to use to fund services. |
