 Avg Household Tax Increase

Up

The following slides are from the presentation given in 2007 to address the benefits of a High Ridge Incorporation Initiative that was being promoted.

The above slide was extracted from the presentation that was given at the town hall meeting and shows how the $1,125 'Annual Average Household Tax Increase for Incorporating' was figured.  The tax percentages applied to the above slide were based on averages of the 10 cities studied and anything above that would be considered extreme and therefore likely to be rejected by voters.

As you can see in the below slide, the $1,125 tax increase is still insufficient to fund the proposed city of High Ridge.  In order to satisfy the expenditure requirements and avoid operating in a deficit, an additional $312 would actually need to be extracted per household adding up to a total cost per household of $1,437.

The presentation can be viewed in its entirety by clicking on Town Hall Presentation.  Mr. Weber is continuing to update the numbers from the 2005 study that he conducted of 10 cities in the Jefferson & St. Louis Counties.  When that information is available, we will ask to post it here.  You can only assume costs have gone up since 2005.

Information reprinted with the permission of Mr. Nelson Weber, Facts & Figures Committee President.
